Junior Designer

You’re an ambitious Junior Designer with pockets of experience in web and email design, banner ads and digital campaigns. You’re a true artist at heart, but understand the practicalities of direct marketing design within the publishing industry. You’re looking for a challenge where you can apply that amazing digital knowledge of yours as well as developing your print design skills…

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll be helping our close-knit, award-winning Marketing Subscriptions team build exciting and innovative direct marketing campaigns. Reporting into the Senior Designer, you’ll support the development and growth of The Week and its associated brands.
  • You’ll be supporting the design team with the daily creative tasks across digital and print, including responsive emails, brands microsites, animated banners ads, social media assets, print ads.
  • Assisting with maintaining image libraries, digital/print jobs archives, and ensuring all new work is saved in an organised and accessible way.
  • Working closely with a team of Direct Marketers who are responsible for customer communications on multiple customer touchpoints.
  • You’ll deliver highly creative designs that will help drive new subscriptions, paying particular attention to the brief provided and deadlines, whilst being mindful of technical considerations.
  • This is a fast paced, highly challenging and varied role, you’ll need to juggle multiple briefs at the same time and no two days will be the same!

Why you?

  • You’re an exceptional designer with a degree qualification in design or arts. You’re confident with digital design and are looking to develop your print design skills.
  • You have a great working knowledge of HTML and CSS (UX/UI would be a bonus, but absolutely not essential..)
  • You have a strong portfolio showing preferably a mix of digital design including responsive landing pages, responsive emails, animated GIF banners (HTML5 banners would be a bonus!)
  • You have some experience in working on digital assets/campaigns, including: responsive emails, brand microsites, apps, banner ads and social media.
  • You consider yourself to be a creative thinker who can produce innovative and intuitive ideas, you’re able to think quickly on your feet and get excited about solving design challenges.
  • You want to work in an environment where you can work collaboratively, flexibly and want to work in a team where you can brainstorm, sketch and verbalize ideas together.
