Whether you’re a school leaver, a graduate or you’re just excited about the prospects of a career in building maintenance, this role will provide you with a great head start and will teach you all you need to know to understand how a facilities department works within a media company.

What will you be doing?

  • Reporting into the Lead Facilities Technician,  you’ll work collaboratively and respond to tasks efficiently, using you own initiative to prioritise and manage your own time.
  • You’ll be assisting with all aspects of servicing in a busy office environment, within onsite security, maintenance and cleanliness.
  • You’ll be dealing with all post and courier transactions and services.
  • General management and maintenance of storage areas both on and off site, as well as assisting with the movement of any office furniture and equipment.
  • You’ll be responding to requests on internal communication channels from staff across the building as well as requests from the facilities team to carry out maintenance duties: changing light bulbs, hanging shelving, assembling racking, storage units and painting maintenance where applicable.
  • You’ll be ordering supplies that are necessary for the smooth running of the business, such as stationery, consumables for vends etc.
  • You’ll be assisting with setting up meeting room spaces or general floor spaces, sometimes for company functions and events (Dennis Annual Charity Day etc.)
  • You’ll understand the building's security systems and will produce staff passes for new starters and freelancers.
  • You’ll work collaboratively with the rest of the facilities team to ensure that daily, weekly and monthly checks identifying any potential hazards are identified and dealt with.
  • You’ll act as a company first aider and fire marshal.

  • You’re interested in beginning your career in a role where you will gain a full understanding of how a building and facilities department functions and supports wider business needs.
  • You understand why health and safety legislation  and procedures are important in the workplace and are generally interested in developing skills in this area.
  • You’d describe yourself as being very proactive with a ‘can do’ attitude. No task is too big for you and you’re great at prioritising a workload.
  • You’re pretty confident when it comes to communicating effectively, you’re a natural people person and can build rapport with different people, internally and externally.
  • You’re happy to use emails and Microsoft Office on a daily basis and can adapt to using Google Docs, Drive and GMail.

  • We’re always thinking of you. You’ll have access to plenty of great benefits such as 28 days holiday, a contributory pension scheme and discounted gym membership. There are also yoga and boot camp classes to get involved in if the gym membership is not enough.
